Terms of service

Terms of Service

1. About us

Console Forge Ltd sells hand-built compact computer systems to customers in the United Kingdom.

Our company and contact details are available on the Company Information page. You can contact us at hello@consoleforge.uk.

2. These terms

These terms apply when you purchase goods from Console Forge Ltd through our website. They should be read together with our Return and Refund Policy, Shipping Policy, Privacy Policy and Warranty & Support information.

Nothing in these terms limits or removes any rights you have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable consumer law.

3. Products and specifications

We take reasonable care to ensure that product descriptions, photographs, specifications and prices are accurate.

Console Forge computers are assembled and tested individually. Minor visual differences that do not affect the advertised specification or performance may occur between individual systems.

If a specific advertised component becomes unavailable after you order and a material substitution would be required, we will contact you before making that change. We will not materially reduce the specification of an ordered system without your agreement.

4. Placing an order

When you place an order, Shopify will send an automated order confirmation to the email address you provide.

The order confirmation confirms that we have received your order. If we are unable to accept or fulfil the order, we will contact you and refund any amount already paid.

We may refuse or cancel an order where, for example, the product is unavailable, there is an obvious pricing or description error, payment cannot be authorised, or we reasonably believe the order is fraudulent. We will not retain payment for goods that we do not supply.

5. Prices and payment

Prices are shown in pounds sterling (GBP). Any applicable delivery charges will be displayed before you complete checkout.

Payment is processed using the payment methods offered through Shopify checkout.

6. Building and testing

Console Forge systems may be individually assembled, configured, updated and tested before dispatch.

We may perform reasonable system testing, benchmarking, firmware or BIOS configuration, driver installation and operating-system configuration as part of preparing your computer.

7. Delivery

We currently accept orders for delivery within the United Kingdom.

Delivery arrangements, charges and estimated times are described in our Shipping Policy and, where applicable, during checkout.

Unless a different delivery period has been agreed, goods will be delivered within the period required by applicable consumer law.

8. Cancellation and returns

Your rights to cancel an online purchase and return goods are explained in our Return and Refund Policy.

For standard goods bought online, consumers normally have a 14-day cancellation period after delivery and then a further 14 days to return the goods after notifying the trader. Certain genuinely personalised or made-to-specification goods can be treated differently where the legal exemption applies.

Your rights where goods are faulty, not as described or not of satisfactory quality are separate from any change-of-mind return rights.

9. Statutory rights

Goods supplied to consumers must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. These rights cannot be removed by our terms or our voluntary warranty.

10. Console Forge warranty

New Console Forge systems include our 2-year parts and labour warranty from the date of delivery, subject to the conditions set out on our Warranty & Support page.

This is a voluntary commercial warranty provided in addition to your statutory rights. The end of the 2-year warranty does not automatically mean that any statutory rights you may have have also ended.

11. Maintenance, misuse and modifications

Computers require reasonable care and ventilation. Routine maintenance such as ordinary dust cleaning and preventative thermal-paste replacement is not itself a warranty repair.

Our voluntary warranty does not cover damage caused by accident, liquid, misuse, neglect, blocked ventilation, unsuitable power, or modifications or settings that caused or materially contributed to the fault.

Opening the computer, upgrading it or replacing a component does not automatically void the warranty on the entire system. However, customer-supplied components are not covered by our warranty, and we are not responsible under the voluntary warranty for damage caused by an incorrectly installed component, modification or setting.

These warranty exclusions do not remove any statutory rights that legally apply.

12. Build and serial-number records

Console Forge may maintain a build record for each system, including the system serial number and identifying information for components originally supplied with it.

These records may be used for warranty administration, technical support, repair history and verification of the original system configuration.

13. Software

A computer may include Windows, drivers, Steam or other third-party software. Third-party software is subject to the relevant provider's licences and terms.

Game and application performance can change as a result of software updates, game patches, drivers, operating-system updates and user-selected settings.

14. Customer data

You are responsible for maintaining backups of important files and personal data.

Troubleshooting or repair can sometimes require operating-system repair, reset, reinstallation or replacement of storage hardware. We will take reasonable care when servicing a system, but you should maintain an independent backup of important data.

Remote support will only be carried out with your knowledge and consent.

15. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory consumer rights.

We are not responsible for losses that could not reasonably have been foreseen when the contract was made, subject to any rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms for future orders. The terms applicable to your purchase are those in effect when your order is placed, unless a change is required by law or you expressly agree otherwise.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by Scots law. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you retain any mandatory consumer protections and rights to bring proceedings that apply where you live.
